Citizens, News, and the Potential Constraints of Political Satire: R. Lance Holbert is a Professor within and Chair of the Department of Strategic Communication at Temple University. His scholarship infuses mass communication- and persuasion-based theoretical approaches to generate greater understanding of the role of media in politics. Most recently, Dr. Holbert (Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2000) has focused attention on the effects of varied forms of political entertainment media. Dr. Holbert, an APPC distinguished research fellow, has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, is a member of a dozen editorial boards, and currently serves as an Associate Editor for Journal of Communication.
