How do swing voters view the presidential candidates and the state of the nation? On August 25, veteran pollster Peter Hart and Hart Research Associates will find out during a focus group with swing voters in Milwaukee.
The participants will discuss what think of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, as well as “how they see America and their lives more broadly,” according to Hart. The group will include Democratic, Republican, and independent voters with a range of viewpoints and political opinions. One goal of the focus group is to offer an opportunity to learn what factors and issues influence these swing voters, and to understand how they could be swayed by the candidates.
“Our goal is to look ahead and understand what it will take to win these voters — how open and persuadable are they?” Hart asked.
The Milwaukee focus group is the sixth in the 2015-16 election cycle of “Voices of the Voters,” a series run by Hart for the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Earlier sessions took place in Pittsburgh in June 2016, Missouri in April 2016, Ohio in December 2015, Indiana in October 2015, and Colorado in January 2015.
