Gail Levin

Gail Levin is director of the Leonore Annenberg Scholarship and School Funds, a ten-year philanthropic initiative that offers grants and scholarships to young people who possess the potential to become the cultural and community leaders of the next generation. The Funds consist of three endowments -- the Leonore Annenberg College Scholarship Fund, designed for successful high school juniors who have faced serious challenges; the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship Fund in the Performing and Visual Arts, focused on exceptional young artists; and the Leonore Annenberg School Fund for Children, designated for public elementary schools lacking essential resources for students. She served as executive director (1999-2009) and senior program officer (1991-1999) of The Annenberg Foundation; Interim Secretary (1990-91), Associate Secretary (1989-90) and Assistant Secretary (1981-89) of the University of Pennsylvania; and Assistant Director of the University of Pennsylvania Press (1974-81). She also taught part-time (1974-79) in the Department of English at Villanova University. She received a B.A. degree magna cum laude from Wheaton College in Massachusetts, and a Ph.D. in American literature from the University of Pennsylvania. A former trustee of The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey, The New York Center for Living, Inc., and Mt. Sinai Hospital Physician Training Program, Dr. Levin also served on the Steering Committee of Constitution High School in Philadelphia, the Board of Overseers of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University, and the Service to America Medals Selection Committee of the Partnership for Public Service.
