Laura Gibson, Ph.D., studies public health, looking for large-scale interventions with the capacity to improve health and wellness. Laura Gibson is a senior data analyst at the Annenberg Public Policy Center. She primarily works with the Annenberg Health and Risk Communication Institute on predictors of public health knowledge and trust in science. Prior to joining APPC, she was an assistant professor of Health Policy in the Psychology of Eating and Consumer Health (PEACH) Lab at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, where she studied the impact of nutrition policies such as the Philadelphia beverage tax (2018-2024). Before that, she supported the development and evaluation of anti-tobacco mass media campaigns such as the FDA’s Real Cost campaign and proposed cigarette warning labels as a researcher for Robert Hornik and Joseph Cappella at Penn’s Annenberg School for Communication (2010-2020).
